Case | Expanding Mobile Locker’s Versatility

Introducing the Directory Flow for Personalized Deliveries in Mobile Locker's locker system

After successfully integrating parcel delivery functionality into its automated locker platform, Mobile Locker, in collaboration with Cu.be Solutions, aimed to take its system even further. The next evolution was the introduction of the Directory Flow—a feature that allows lockers to facilitate direct deliveries to specific individuals registered within the system. This functionality extends the platform’s reach beyond traditional rentals and parcel deliveries, making it a powerful solution for corporate offices, residential buildings, and peer-to-peer (C2C) exchanges.

The Challange

Mobile Locker wanted to create a seamless and secure method for delivering items to designated individuals while maintaining the flexibility of its existing rental, reservation, and parcel delivery flows. The key requirements included:

  • A system to store and manage a directory of known recipients.

  • A search function enabling couriers or individuals to easily find and select the intended recipient.

  • The ability to handle deliveries from businesses to employees, parcel services to apartment residents, and peer-to-peer exchanges.

  • Full integration with existing flows, allowing all functionalities to coexist within a single locker installation.

  • Secure and efficient pickup for recipients through authentication mechanisms.

The Solution

Cu.be Solutions extended the existing Mobile Locker software with the Directory Flow, which introduced the following capabilities:

1. Directory Management

The system was enhanced to support a directory of known recipients, which can include:

  • Employees within a company where the locker installation is deployed.

  • Residents of large apartment complexes.

  • Any registered user who opts into the service for C2C exchanges.

Administrators can manage the directory centrally via the Online Management System, ensuring that the recipient database remains accurate and up to date.

2. Personalized Deliveries

The new functionality enables both couriers and individuals to search for a recipient by name when delivering an item. Once a recipient is selected:

  • The system assigns a locker compartment dynamically.

  • The recipient is notified via SMS, email, or mobile app.

  • The recipient retrieves the package using a secure authentication method (PIN, QR code, or mobile app verification).

3. Unified Locker Functionality

A key feature of the Directory Flow is its ability to coexist with other flows – Rental, Reservation, and Parcel Delivery – within the same locker installation. This flexibility allows organizations and building managers to maximize locker utilization while catering to multiple use cases in one system. It is the only locker system in the world capable of handling with this multitude of flows.

4. Enhanced Online Management System

The Online Management System was further upgraded to:

  • Manage and update recipient directories in real time.

  • Provide visibility into delivered and pending pickups.

  • Generate reports on usage trends, efficiency, and locker availability.

First Implementation

The first customer to adopt this innovative Directory Flow solution is Ziekenhuis Geel, a hospital that uses the system to facilitate secure and efficient internal deliveries. This deployment demonstrates the real-world impact of the solution, ensuring that hospital staff can easily receive items in a structured and reliable manner.

The Outcome

With Cu.be Solutions’ software innovation, Mobile Locker has transformed its platform into an all-in-one solution for personal storage, parcel logistics, and direct deliveries. The introduction of the Directory Flow enables businesses, residential buildings, and individuals to seamlessly send and receive items in a secure and organized manner.

By continuously evolving its software ecosystem, Mobile Locker remains at the forefront of smart locker technology, offering unmatched flexibility and convenience in a single, scalable system.
